Germination analysis of Wt and sbe1a mutant kernels. The lengths of the emerged coleoptiles were measured on successive days during the incubation period1. Starch content in the germinating endosperm was quantified at Day 1, 6, 8, 11, and percentage of starch content at each day against the dry weight of Day 1 kernels was plotted1. 1Each data point is mean ± standard error of measurements of kernels from three biological replications. As 2 kernels were removed at Day 1, 6, 8, 11 for quantifying starch content, 15, 13, 11, and 9 kernels from three biological replications were used for coleoptile measurement Day 1, 2-6, 7-8, 9-11, respectively. Comparison between two genotypes for each day was made by one-way ANOVA analysis and a significant difference was marked by an asterisk (p < 0.05).
