From: Genome size expansion and the relationship between nuclear DNA content and spore size in the Asplenium monanthes fern complex (Aspleniaceae)

Figure 1

Phylogenetic framework (based on Bayesian analysis) of the plastid genome, as presented in Dyer et al . [29], of the Asplenium monanthes complex and related lineages, together with nuclear DNA content and spore length for each specimen analysed. Tree is rooted according to [29]. Posterior branch support (≥0.8) is shown. 2C DNA content for each specimen is represented by a bar chart, whilst spore length data are shown as box plots. Each boxplot represents the variance of measurements of spores within each specimen, the thick horizontal line is the median, the box indicates the variation observed between the 25th and 75th percentiles, the whiskers show the variance range, and small circles identify extreme outliers. MO1 and MO2 indicate the two distinct A.monanthes clades and these are further divided into sub-clades I and II, and also III in the case of MO1 only. † symbols indicate samples for which 2C DNA content measurements were made from 6 month old silica material.
