B. amyloliquefaciens FZB42 represses root Pi uptake in only low Pi environments. A and B Uptake rates from one-week-old T. aestivum plants that had been seed treated with 2 µl of either LB media or B. amyloliquefaciens FZB42 culture, where the soil was watered to holding capacity with either A 20 µM PO43- or B 2 mM PO43-. Both solutions were supplemented with 33P whose presence was used to monitor Pi uptake. n = 5 for each treatment, and * marks values significantly different from the untreated control value using Student’s t-test (p < 0.05). Error bars are SEM.
