Subcellular localization of VpCDPK9. The Roman numerals (i-iv) represent the corresponding four subcellular localization patterns of VpCDPK9. VpCDPK9 was cloned from Chinese wild grape (Vitis pseudoreticulata) and used to construct CaMV35S::VpCDPK9-GFP vectors in which GFP was fused at the C terminus. The VpCDPK9-GFP fusion protein, as well as GFP as a control, was transiently expressed in Col-0 Arabidopsis protoplasts and observed by fluorescence microscopy. The merged pictures include the green fluorescence channel (first panel) and the chloroplast autofluorescence channel (second panels). The corresponding bright field images are shown on the right.
