Phylogenetic tree of CaMs. The phylogenetic tree shows presence of ten monophyletic groups of CaM. The CaMs of the lower eukaryotic plants were found at the base of the phylogenetic tree, indicating that the CaMs of higher plants were evolved from the common ancestor of basal lower eukaryotic lineage. The phylogenetic tree was constructed from the protein sequences of CaMs using the MEGA6 software
