FER fluctuated at a diurnal rhythm along with FER, and the clock oscillator CCA1 appears to bind the FER chromatin and promote its expression. In turn, FER will down-regulate CCA1 expression and regulate flowering through the GI-CO pathway. Thus, FER-CCA1 appears to form an interlocking feedback loop during flowering time control. In addition, FER is a negative regulator of FLC and MAF by regulating their splicing and transcript accumulation.
