Phylogeny and gene structures of 76 tobacco aquaporins. Phylogenetic tree was generated using the neighbour-joining method (via MEGA7) from MUSCLE aligned protein sequences. Confidence levels (%) of branch points generated through bootstrapping analysis (n = 1000). Gene structures are located adjacent to their respective location on the phylogenetic tree; blue rectangles correspond to the exons; green rectangles and arrows to the 5′ and 3’UTRs, respectively. Scale bar at the top of gene structures indicates nucleotide length. The last letter in the NtAQP names denote the likely origin of the gene (s = N. sylvestris, t = N. tomentosiformis, x = unknown)
